SOCIALVIEW: Andrew Wedge and Drew Guyton of Atela.

24 Apr

We got a DOUBLE-view for this week!  Today we talk to Andrew Wedge and Drew Guyton, the brains behind the unreleased fashion label ATELA.  Andrew Wedge also designs for his own fashion label, Andrew Wedge, which he started back in Spring 2008.  Atelle is scheduled to be released next February, and we can’t WAIT to see!! Read on for Andrew and Drew’s People, Places and Things!

**ANDREW WEDGE**

PEOPLE: DAPHNE GUINNESS

Andrew is mesmerized by Daphne’s uncompromising personal aesthetic and love of fashion.

PLACES: TOKIO 7, NEW YORK CITY, USA

Tokio 7 is an amazing consignment store where you can find incredible pieces from the likes of Haider Ackermann to Alexander McQueen.  While Andrew was living in NYC, he always made a point to frequently visit Tokio 7 to check out their incredible selection.

THINGS: FASHION

Andrew loves how interactive the art form of ‘fashion’ is.  Not only are clients able to wear the art and bring it into their everyday lives, they are also able to translate it to match their own identity.

**DREW GUYTON**

PEOPLE: EIKO ISHIOKA

Costume Designer Eiko Ishioka is not longer with us, but her work still resonates with Drew.  He remembers the first time he watched Bram Stoker’s Dracula: he had no idea what was going on, but he was mesmerized by the costumes.  Drew says he would have loved to have met her and spent time discussing her body of work.

 PLACES: NEW ORLEANS

New Orleans is the one place Drew has been itching to go back to.  As a tourist, you tend to get a pretty narrow view of the city, but when Drew went he got to spend some time with the locals and was taken off the typical beaten path.  Drew recommends heading down to Frenchman Street to check out all the jazz clubs.  (Sounds like a dream!!)

THINGS: GOOGLE

We absolutely LOVED this answer.  Call it an obsession, but Drew is always curious about things and having Google on hand for instant research is incredibly convenient.  With fashion design, one search will lead to another possibility and another, and so on.  It’s endless!

Thank you to Andrew and Drew for talking to us this week!  Stay tuned next week for the next SOCIALVIEW (as well as a huge announcement on May 1!)

SOCIALVIEW: Romona Keveza.

17 Apr

This week we talk to the fabulous designer Romona Keveza!  Her dresses have been worn by every starlet to every event that you can think of: Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks, Modern Family’s Sophia Vergara and queen of Hollywood Angelina Jolie.  In Romona’s own words, her collections are more about whispering elegance rather than shouting opulence.  Just by looking at her collections can see EXACTLY what she means.  So without further ado, these are Romona Keveza’s People, Places and Things.

Look from Bridal Fall 2012

PEOPLE: HER MOM

Romona says that without her Mom, she wouldn’t be here.  We can see exactly where she gets her gorgeous looks from, too!

Sofia Vergara at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in LA.

Julia Roberts in People Magazine.

PLACE: AMAN RESORT, TURKS AND CAICOS.

Aman Resort is located on the coast of the Northwest Point on the island of Providenciales.  As stated right on their site: the resort derives its name from aman, the Sanskrit word for ‘peace’, and yara, the word for ‘place’ in the language of the Arawak Amerindians, one of the region’s first indigenous peoples. So….when can we go??

THING: HER WORK

Romona says her work is all about making women look and feel beautiful during a very special time in their lives, whether it’s for a red carpet or for a wedding.  (We feel special just LOOKING at people in her stunning dresses!)

THANK YOU to Romona and her team for talking to us this week.  Hopefully we’ll be wearing one of her pieces for a very special occasion in the near future, too!

SOCIALVIEW: Laura of On The Racks!

10 Apr

This week we talk to Laura, the stylist gal behind the blog On The Racks!  On The Racks is Laura’s place to talk about her style, things she desires and what she is inspired by.  Two big topics?  Shoes and booze.  Yum. Yum!

We first met Laura back in 2010 at blogger event at Berkeley University, and we’ve been hooked to her blog ever since!  Read on to see Laura’s People, Places and Things! -annatfabulous :*

Liz of Late Afternoon, Anna T Fabulous and Laura of On The Racks

PEOPLE: THE BLONDES- KATE MOSS, MARY-KATE AND ASHLEY, SIENNA MILLER.

There are two things that all these ladies have in common, they all have a fabulous head of blonde hair and Laura LOVES them (well…that and they are all INCREDIBLY ferocious).  When it comes to fashion, these are the gals that Laura looks to.

PLACES: SPICE MARKET AND THE BIERGARTEN AT THE STANDARD, NEW YORK, USA.

Laura recently made the move from San Francisco to NYC (exciting!!), so she is having a blast exploring and discovering new places.  Two of her faves?  The Spice Market at the Beirgarten at The Standard.  Both of which we have yet to visit! Add it to the list…

THINGS:  HER 3.1 PHILLIP LIM PASHLI SATCHEL

Her latest obsession is her new Phillip Lim Pashli.  It was a splurge, but she has been getting so much use out of it AND she can take her computer with her anywhere!  That and it just makes every outfit perfect.  Don’t worry Laura, you don’t have to convince us, we get it!

Thank you SO MUCH Laura for taking the time to talk to us this week!  Perhaps we’ll catch you in the streets of NYC with that 3.1 on your arm later this year.

Stay tuned for a new SOCIALVIEW next week!

SOCIALVIEW: Peter of The Starving Stylist!

3 Apr

Today we talk with blogger, and fellow Vancouverite, Peter of The Starving Stylist!  We just ADORE Peter, like seriously, BEYOND!!  As you read Peter’s delightful blog, you can see he has the eye for style.  Or as he would say:

LOVE it!! As much as we know Peter for his incredible style, we also know exactly where else to find him: dancing RIGHT beside us on the dance floor with a glass of champagne.  Life is beautiful, isn’t it??  Read on to see Peter’s People, Places and Things! -annatfabulous :*

PEOPLE: HIS MOM

She’s 4’11”.  She wears fuchsia shellac nails.  She has sass, she has class and is totally cray cray!! In other words, we know EXACTLY where Peter gets that feisty little (and by little, we mean BIG) attitude from!  WORK, Mama Starving, WORK.

Anna T Fabulous with Peter and some ‘stragglers’ (aka Killian and Teesh).

PLACES: NEW YORK CITY

At the top of his lungs Peter screams his favourite place on Earth is NEW YORK CITY.  Peter heads to NYC at LEAST once a year, his latest trip was just a few weeks ago!  He did tell us, however, that NYC was missed last year…due to paying the credit card bills from the NYC trip the year before…WHOOPS.

THINGS: HIS MULBERRY OVERSIZED ALEXA

Peter still remembers the day he walked into the Fifth Avenue Mulberry store and saw this coveted bag.  He HAD to have it, so he put his name on the waiting list for the classic Oak colour right then and there.  Let the Starving begin!  Four months, 3 paychecks and who knows how many tax duty dollars later, the bag was his!  Best.  Feeling.  Ever. (Celine Bag Savings Account anyone??).

THANK YOU Peter for taking the time to talk to us about your People, Places and Things!  Stay tuned for the next SOCIALVIEW! -annatfabulous :*

28 Mar

AND WE’RE BACK!! We worked hard all last week to bring you some fantastic new SOCIALVIEWS with some incredible people!  This week, we are super excited to share the People, Places and Things of Marcus Paglialonga of Gypsy Junkies!

We were first introduced to Gypsy Junkies last year by our friend Mike.  Gypsy Junkies is an LA based fashion house, producing fantastic boho-chic collections complete with sheer chiffon, elegant crochets and a floral print jump suit that could KILL.  You can bet your ass that Anna T Fabulous is DROOLING over that one.

With Kitson doing a recent window display dedicated to them and LA-Gypsy babes like Nicole Ritchie are all over their floaty pieces, you know that everybody wants to be a Gypsy Junkie!  Hey, anyone heading to Coachella?  In short- Gypsy Junkies is exactly how we dress in our day dreams, and hopefully more in our reality!  With their exceptional price point, that wardrobe dream is actually attainable!

This week the Man Behind the Brand, Marcus Paglialongia, shares with I Need A Social Life his People, Places and Things!

PEOPLE: HIS GRANDFATHER, RICHIE PAGLIALONGA

Marcus’s grandfather currently lives in San Francisco (holla!), but has resided all over the world: India, Paris, Geneva, you name it!  Marcus says his Ritchie is a kind, loving and wise man, with the BEST stories.  Living around the world will do that to you!  Please Ritchie, tell us a story!

PLACES: THE EDGAR QUINET SIDEWALK MARKET, PARIS, FRANCE.

Ummmmm.  LOOK at these photos.  Need we say more???  With our appetite already hungry for a trip to gay Paris, these photos do NOT help curb the appetite!

THINGS: HIS CAT, FEATHER.

Stop it.  Nope.  Can’t. Won’t!! Feather CLEARLY runs the show at the Gypsy Junkie showroom.  Where do you think their inspiration for their patterns comes from?? 😉 And those model long legs?  Feather is a head turner!

THANK YOU to Marcus for taking the time to chat with us this week!  Stay tuned for another SOCIALVIEW next week! ❤ -annatfabulous :*

SOCAILVIEW: Alexander Liang of KENTON Magazine.

6 Mar

This week’s SOCIALVIEW is with the wonderful Alexander Liang, Editor-In-Cheif of the online publication KENTON Magazine.  The magazine is for young, stylish and professional men & women.  KENTON Magazine produces original content from an insider’s perspective.  Their editorials are outstanding, their writing is fresh and their message is inspiring.  We can’t get enough of it!

Alexander took the time out of his busy schedule to give us the inside scoop.  He graduated from Parsons School of Design in New York and is from Vancouver, Canada (just like our Anna T Fabulous!).  Alex worked with publications Details, T: The New York Times Style Magazine and Mochi magazine before launching KENTON Magazine in September 2011.  These are Alexander’s People, Places and Things! -annatfabulous :*

PEOPLE: RALPH LAUREN

Alex’s favourite person is Ralph Lauren.  Mr. Lauren inspires Alex as a businessman, and he is one of his all time favourite designers.  He snuck in the fact that he also really loves Angelina Jolie (give us some leg, Alex!)

PLACES: HAWAII

Alex’s favourite place on Earth is Hawaii.  Place him anywhere on those fabulous little islands and he is happy!

THING: HIS WATCH COLLECTION

Alex LOVES his watches.  Whatever watch he chooses for the day, it draws attention to his wrist and makes a serious style statement.  His Michael Kors watch has been a consistant hit.  YES Alex, you got some PIECES that’s for sure!

HUGE THANK YOU again to Alex for taking the time to talk with us!  Stay tuned next week for another SOCIALVIEW!

SOCIALVIEW: Andrew Mukamal.

29 Feb

We are GIDDY with excitement for this next SOCIALVIEW.  Today we talk with New York style icon Andrew Mukumal!!

We fell in LOVE with Andrew the moment we saw him on Kell On Earth as Kelly Cutrone’s assistant.  He no longer works with Kelly, but instead has a BAD ASS style website, www.andrewmukamal.com.  He posts videos daily, called Today’s Look, talking about the latest in the fashion world and exposing us to his FABULOUS closet.  Speaking of his closet, he tweets his look daily and it is always DROOL WORTHY.  We are completely inspired (and envious) of Andrew’s fabulous style; this boy knows EXACTLY what he’s doing!

Andrew also does styling and consulting out of New York. City.  These are Andrew’s People, Places and Things! -annatfabulous :*

PEOPLE: TIM BURTON

We almost screamed YESSSS GIRL when he said Tim Burton!!  Instead, we kept our cool (swear!).  No other man has influenced Andrew’s aesthetic and the way he views the world as much as Tim Burton.  From the way Tim Burton sketches (clothing and wardrobe in particular) to the way he commits and executes to a specific project, Andrew cannot speak highly enough about Tim.

PLACES: PARIS

For Andrew, it’s all about Paris. While he is a New Yorker through and through, Andrew says a true New Yorker is never really satisfied with New York. Paris has the food, the shopping and the art.  Shall we meet you on the Champes Elysees in September, Andrew?

Andrew’s Editorial Work

THINGS: HIS BABIES, PENNY and LUCY.

‘My two baby girls, Penny and Lucy! No words….’ And we COULD NOT agree more!! LOOK AT THEM!  Lucy was JUST added to the family last week.  GOODNESS!

Andrew happened to be one of the first PEOPLE we ever blogged about when I Need A Social Life firsted launch in Octover 2010.  Thank you for taking the time to sit down with us Andrew, we were honored!
